Behold.ai ceases operations because of unpaid debts

U.K.-based AI company Behold.ai has entered administration after a petition to wind up the company was filed by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in August 2024.

The petition, citing unpaid debts, was heard at the High Court on 16 October 2024, leading to the company’s insolvency proceedings.

Behold.ai, known for its Red Dot® AI solutions for chest X-ray analysis, had supplied solutions to NHS trusts. However, it failed to secure contracts under the NHS AI Diagnostic Fund, prompting CEO Simon Rasalingham to call for an inquiry into the fund’s allocation, which he claims disproportionately benefited overseas firms. NHS England stated that AI Diagnostic Fund contracts were awarded in line with national procurement guidelines.
